SALVATION MOUNTAIN, CALIFORNIA About an hour & a half drive from Palm Springs, you will find this rainbow magical wonderland. Salvation Mountain was created by local Leonard Knight, who sadly passed in 2014. Im not a religious person but respect all beliefs & have been lucky enough to visit so many religious monuments all over the world & let me tell you, this is something else! You can donate Lead-free paint to the site as it is constantly needing fixing due to the harsh conditions of the area. TIPS: Take ALL OF THE PICTURES haha everywhere here is a photo op so get snapping! We arrived around midday, peak summer and it was so so so hot that I almost passed out haha! Remember to bring LOTS of water on the drive and some snacks, theres not really anywhere to eat.

BOMBAY BEACH, CALIFORNIA - THE SALTON SEA On your way back from Salvation Mountain stop off in the eerie abandoned town of Bombay Beach. This rusted, decaying old town has water that smells of dead fish, salt & petrol, the town itself is filled with old caravans & shacks that have been turned into little art Galleries. The old Drive in was my favourite! Its hard to imagine that in the 50s & 60s Bombay Beach was a thriving resort, pumping with water sports, margaritas & golf. What went wrong? The short cut is basically: The Salton see was created when the Colorado River Flooded, flowing into the Salton Sink for 2 yrs & creating the largest lake in California by an accident. It thrived with birds & fish and seemed to be a "miracle in the desert" but in the late 70s, it was deteriorating rapidly. With no drainage in the lake, depleting Oxygen, runoff from nearby farms flowing in and no rainfall the lake became poisoned, polluted with pesticides & salt. Now this ghost town is becoming a hot spot for tourists, we spoke to a local & he showed us his Air BNB trailers that each had different themes, art galleries and their temple made of things, as in shoes. SO COOL!
